Curriculum

curriculum

Our curriculum content is designed to achieve long-range goals for children in all areas –social, emotional, cognitive, self-help, language, fine and gross motor. It is designed to achieve the goals of raising enthusiastic and lifelong learners. It encourages children to be independent and self-motivated to accomplish tasks, at the same time it requires them to be inquisitive and creative to understand how things in their environment work. The activities we prepare for the children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, are all intended to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give them a successful start in school.

  • Unit Study – Themes and learning concepts (ie. Letters, numbers, shapes etc.) are set at the beginning of the school year. These are presented by the teacher using various means such as games, stories, etc. The unit study is conducted in a group setting.
  • Worksheets – These are pen and paper activities that deal with academics (Reading, Math & Writing). The worksheets will support the learning concepts discussed during unit study.
  • Purposeful Play – Play is the child’s way of working and learning. It lays the foundation for higher level of cognitive and social skills. Play activities are carefully planned by the teacher designed to provide structure, guidance and foundation for learning.
  • Culminating Activities – These activities are utilized to sum up all the concepts learned at the end of each month. This may be in the form of a fieldtrip, resource person and/ or specialized school activity
